According to the article “A Crash Course on American Culture’’ posted on University Chronicle on February 8, 2010, the author described his own experiences working in University Chronicle and how do these experiences influenced his life in the United States. The life in Chronicle is really considered crazy, because there are deadlines every week and people have to balance their lives, studies, homework with the work. However their work is not always appreciated as what they deserve. Some of the readers give them a lot of negative feedbacks and are always trying to find their mistakes. Nonetheless, the author thinks that his coworkers are marvelous and important to him. They are tolerant to those criticizes and keep working as hard as they can. Moreover, they give him tons of helps, not only on his language studying but also culture adjustment. He had some interesting “American” experiences with them, for example, “Guy’s night out at Perkins” actually means going to “Sugar Daddy’s”. He feels that working in the Chronicle is just like having a fun American culture class. He thinks that working in the Chronicle is just like Alice staying in the wonder land, and he is fascinated by what is happening around him.
